VINCAR Mountaineer Ice Axe

The VINCAR Mountaineering Ice Axe is a brand new ice axe designed from the ground up.  Born from the necessity of making climbing in the mountains much safer, especially at higher altitudes, it was designed with a lot of new innovations in mind, each using some of the most advanced materials.  The prime innovation is a Rotating Spike at the end of the Axe’s shaft, rotating +/- 45 to 90 degrees and locking in place.  What this accomplishes is to give the user, now, two points of terrain contact instead of the traditional one point which has always been accomplished by the Ace’s Pick.  Other innovations include a very large Self-Arrest friction plate, a chisel-head Adz, an extremely strong structural shaft, a 2-piece axe head and a reverse curved Pick, both borrowed from Ice Tool industry and adapted to the Mountaineering Ice Axe.
